This discovery could lead to a test that would help doctors identify patients at greatest risk and help them potentially avert the disease through interventions including diet and exercise.

All of the women delivered their babies at Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals between and The new study builds on prior research, following the diabetes and heart disease medication cohort of women over a longer time period during which more women developed T2D.
